New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh kicked off the much-anticipated debate on Operation Sindoor in the Lok Sabha on Monday. However, the session was marred by continuous disruptions from Opposition MPs, leading to the House being adjourned thrice, with the latest adjournment lasting until 2 PM.

 

The discussion which is expected to last for 16 hours, underscoring the importance of national security and foreign policy. Home Minister Amit Shah and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will also present the government’s stance on these critical issues.

Leading BJP MPs such as Anurag Thakur and Nishikant Dubey are set to participate, while the Opposition will be led by Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, along with Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav.

The Congress has issued a whip mandating the attendance of all its Lok Sabha MPs for the next three days, highlighting the significance of the debate.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju confirmed that the Opposition agreed to prioritise discussions on national security starting Monday in the Lok Sabha and continuing in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.
