New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to social media on Thursday to express his heartfelt gratitude to the nation following the successful conclusion of the 45-day-long Mahakumbh 2025, which ended on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri. The grand religious gathering at Prayagraj’s Triveni Sangam saw millions of devotees coming together to partake in the holy dip, making it one of the biggest cultural and spiritual events in India.

In his message shared on platform X, PM Modi described the Mahakumbh as more than just a religious event, calling it the “Maha Yagya of unity.” He lauded the overwhelming faith of the 140 crore countrymen who participated in the Maha Kumbh, stressing how the event brought people from diverse regions and social backgrounds together in a historic celebration of unity and spirituality.

"The Maha Kumbh has concluded... the Maha Yagya of unity has been completed," PM Modi wrote. "The way the faith of 140 crore countrymen came together for 45 days at the Maha Kumbh of unity in Prayagraj, at one time, and joined this one festival, is overwhelming!"

The Prime Minister went on to highlight that the immense participation was not just a record, but also a foundation for preserving and promoting India's cultural and religious heritage for centuries to come. He remarked on the power of the gathering, where people from all walks of life, regardless of region, caste, or creed united in devotion. This grand display of unity, he said, was a live example of “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat,” a slogan representing the vision of a united India.

PM Modi also expressed his admiration for the hard work and determination shown by the people in making the event a success. In a gesture of gratitude and reverence, he announced that he would visit Shri Somnath, the first of the twelve Jyotirlingas, to offer his prayers. "I will offer my Sankalp Pushp as a symbol of devotion and pray for every Indian," he stated, adding that he hoped the spirit of unity that had been witnessed during the Mahakumbh would continue to flow.

The Prime Minister also noted the global significance of the Mahakumbh, saying it had now become a subject of research for management professionals, as well as planning and policy experts around the world. "Today, the Maha Kumbh of Prayagraj has become a subject of research for management professionals as well as planning and policy experts from all over the world," he concluded.
