Dhar (Madhya Pradesh): In a shocking incident during the Madhya Pradesh Board examinations, a minor Class 10 student delivered a baby boy inside the washroom of an examination centre in Pithampur, an industrial town in Dhar district, on Tuesday.

The incident took place at a private school functioning as a centre for the Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE) exams. The student was appearing for her mathematics paper when she reportedly began experiencing severe abdominal pain midway through the test.

After seeking permission from the invigilator, the girl went to the restroom. However, when she did not return for a prolonged period, staff members grew concerned. Moments later, they heard the cries of a newborn coming from inside the locked washroom.

Upon opening the door, they found that the minor had gone into labour and delivered a baby boy inside the toilet.

The examination centre authorities immediately contacted the 108 emergency ambulance service. The student and her newborn were rushed to the Community Health Center in Pithampur around 5 pm for medical attention.

Health condition of the mother and newborn

Doctors confirmed that both the mother and the infant are stable and currently under observation. Medical staff described their condition as normal and said they are being closely monitored.

The unexpected incident created panic among students and school staff at the centre.

Zero FIR registered, investigation underway

Police registered a Zero FIR at Pithampur police station and later transferred the case to Betma police station in Indore district, as the minor is a resident of Betma and had travelled to Pithampur only to appear for the board examination.

Speaking on the matter, Vijay Dabur, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Dhar, confirmed the development and said further investigation is ongoing.

During preliminary questioning, the girl reportedly told police that she had been in contact with a young man for the past two years. Authorities have identified the accused and are working to nab him.
