The case
Muskan and Saurabh had married for love in 2016 and had been residing in a rented accommodation in Meerut for the past three years along with their five-year-old daughter. While Saurabh was employed at a bakery in London, Muskan began a relationship with a man named Sahil during his absence.
After Saurabh recently returned to India, he was allegedly murdered by Muskan and Sahil. Officials say the two stabbed him to death and concealed his body in a drum filled with cement. To cover their tracks, Muskan reportedly informed neighbours that Saurabh had left for a hill station. She and Sahil then travelled to Manali, where they uploaded photos using Saurabh’s mobile phone on his social media profiles in an attempt to deceive friends and family.
The murder, which occurred on 4 March, came to light only after Saurabh was reported missing by his family, who had been unable to reach him for several days. Following a police investigation, both Muskan and Sahil confessed to the crime.
The pair are now held in judicial custody at the Chaudhary Charan Singh District Jail in Meerut as legal proceedings continue.
