Noida: A major fire erupted at the Shahberi Furniture Market in Greater Noida on Friday evening, causing extensive damage to shops and triggering panic in the surrounding area.

According to police officials, the blaze spread across at least four to five furniture shops inside the market. The exact cause of the fire was not immediately known.

Visuals from the area showed towering flames shooting several metres into the sky while dense black smoke engulfed nearby localities. The intensity of the fire lit up the entire market area and drew crowds as emergency responders rushed to the scene.

At least eight fire tenders were deployed to control the blaze. Firefighters continued operations for several hours in an attempt to prevent the flames from spreading further to nearby establishments.

Officials said furniture items and goods worth lakhs of rupees are feared to have been destroyed in the incident. No casualties or injuries were immediately reported.

Authorities are expected to investigate the cause of the blaze after cooling operations are completed.

Another major NCR fire on same day

In another fire incident reported from the National Capital Region on Friday, at least 10 cars and two scooters were gutted after a blaze broke out at a parking lot in Shahdara.

The parking area, operated by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, caught fire during the day, prompting officials to deploy four fire tenders to the location.

According to fire department officials, thick black smoke quickly turned into a massive blaze that engulfed several parked vehicles. Firefighters later brought the situation under control after sustained efforts.

No injuries or casualties were reported in the Delhi incident either, while cooling operations continued late into the evening to avoid fresh flare-ups.
