The Military Nursing Service is a vital component of the Armed Forces Medical Services

New Delhi: Maj Gen Rachel Thomas has assumed charge as the Additional Director General, Military Nursing Service (ADG MNS), succeeding Maj Gen Lissamma P.V., who superannuated on May 31, 2026, after rendering nearly four decades of distinguished service in the Military Nursing Service.
An alumna of the College of Nursing, Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune, Maj Gen Rachel Thomas was commissioned into the Military Nursing Service on June 1, 1988. During her illustrious career spanning almost four decades, she has held a wide range of clinical, instructional and administrative appointments across military hospitals under the Armed Forces Medical Services.
Her extensive professional experience includes service in several premier military hospitals as well as border hospitals under the Northern and Eastern Commands. In these roles, she made significant contributions to patient care, nursing administration and healthcare delivery in diverse and challenging operational environments.
The Military Nursing Service is a vital component of the Armed Forces Medical Services, providing professional nursing care and medical support to service personnel and their families across peace stations and operational areas in service of the nation.
