The station, located on the Violet Line, serves as a key access point for landmarks such as the Red Fort, Jama Masjid, and the bustling Chandni Chowk area

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Saturday reopened gates 2 and 3 at Lal Quila Metro station, which had been closed following the recent blast near the Red Fort that killed 13 people and injured several others.
In a post on X, the DMRC announced, “Gate number 2 & 3 at Lal Quila Metro Station are now open for commuters.”
The station, located on the Violet Line, serves as a key access point for landmarks such as the Red Fort, Jama Masjid, and the bustling Chandni Chowk area. Its temporary closure had disrupted daily commuters and tourists visiting Old Delhi, particularly during peak hours and weekends.
On Thursday, the DMRC had stated that the station would remain closed “until further notice due to security reasons,” with all other metro stations and lines operating as scheduled.
Meanwhile, fresh CCTV footage has emerged showing the prime accused, Dr Umar Un Nabi, entering Delhi through the Badarpur border in an i20 car, strengthening the investigation into the blast. The footage shows Umar stopping at the Badarpur toll plaza, handing cash to the toll collector, with a large bag visible in the backseat. Despite wearing a mask, his face was clearly identifiable.
The reopening of the Lal Quila gates comes as authorities continue to tighten security and pursue leads in the ongoing investigation.
