Police in Mirzapur, UP, arrested a Kerala resident for alleged illegal religious conversion

Mirzapur: A Kerala native was arrested on Tuesday in Mirzapur district, Uttar Pradesh, in connection with an alleged illegal religious conversion case, police officials confirmed.
According to Circle Officer (City) Vivek Jawla, the case was originally registered at Vindhyachal police station on June 22, and two individuals were taken into custody on June 23. During the ongoing investigation, police on Tuesday arrested Vijay Kumar, a Kerala resident who identifies himself as a father.
Police further stated that a resident, who was reportedly on the verge of being converted, alleged that his wife and two sons had already been converted. He claimed they were enticed with promises of money, employment, and good health.
A case has been registered under the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act against the accused, officials added.
