Ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakhs for the next of kin of each deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund was announced following the incident

Thiruvananthapuram: A devastating chemical factory blast at Sigachi Pharma Industries in Telangana's Sangareddy district has seen its death toll tragically rise, officials confirmed on Tuesday. The horrific incident, which occurred on Monday, has drawn condolences and support from across the nation, with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan expressing his deep sorrow and solidarity.
Sharing his sentiments on X (formerly Twitter), CM Vijayan wrote, "Deeply saddened by the tragic chemical factory blast in Telangana. Our thoughts are with the bereaved families and all those affected. Kerala stands in solidarity."
The explosion, which took place in the Pasamailaram Phase 1 area, initially left over a dozen workers injured. As rescue operations continue at the site, authorities have so far identified nine from the deceased. A help desk has been set up at the accident site to assist those affected.
The tragedy has prompted immediate responses from national and state leadership. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his anguish over the loss of lives, announcing an ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakhs for the next of kin of each deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy visited the accident site on Tuesday, personally reviewing the situation. On Monday, his office had already conveyed "deepest condolences and prayers for the loved ones and families of those who lost their lives." The Chief Minister has been continuously monitoring rescue and relief operations, instructing key officials including the Health Minister, Chief Secretary, and DGP to mobilize all efforts and assuring complete support to the victims' families.
Furthermore, CM Reddy has formed a five-member high-powered committee to thoroughly review and investigate the mishap and its underlying causes. Comprising the Chief Secretary, Special Chief Secretary (Disaster Management), Principal Secretary (Labour), Principal Secretary (Health), and Additional DGP (Fire Services), the committee is also tasked with submitting recommendations to prevent such accidents in the future. The Chief Minister has emphasized ensuring proper medical treatment for all injured and conveyed his wishes for their speedy recovery.
