New Delhi: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday said he has invited Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar for a breakfast meeting, following directions from the Congress high command amid ongoing speculation over a leadership rift in the state government.
Speaking to reporters, Siddaramaiah said the party leadership had advised both leaders to meet and discuss issues internally.
“High command told DK Shivakumar that we should meet and discuss. My stand is that whatever the high command says, I will go by it,” he said.
He added that the meeting would take place on Saturday morning.
“I invited Deputy CM D K Shivakumar for breakfast tomorrow, as high command asked us to have meeting. We will discuss when Shivakumar comes for breakfast,” Siddaramaiah stated.
The remarks come amid reports suggesting tensions within the Karnataka Congress over leadership and power-sharing arrangements, though both leaders have maintained that they will abide by the party’s decision.
