Actor Kamaal R Khan was arrested by Mumbai Police after firing four rounds from his licensed gun, with bullets striking a residential building in Oshiwara.

Actor and self-styled film critic Kamaal R Khan, widely known as KRK, has been arrested by Mumbai police after he fired multiple rounds from his licensed firearm near a residential complex in Mumbai's Oshiwara area. He was taken into custody on Friday. The incident, which occurred on 18 January, sparked a police investigation after bullets were found lodged in a nearby building.
Khan, known for his provocative commentary on social media, was brought to the Oshiwara police station for questioning, where he reportedly admitted to discharging the weapon.
KRK claims he fired while cleaning his gun
During interrogation, Khan told officers that the shots were fired unintentionally while he was cleaning his gun. He claimed he had aimed towards a mangrove patch in front of his home to check the weapon’s “functionality”, believing the bullets would fall harmlessly into the dense foliage.
According to police sources, he also stated that strong winds may have carried the bullets farther than expected, causing them to strike a residential building in Nalanda Society.
Officers are now examining his version of events.
Bullets recovered from two floors of Oshiwara building
Police said two bullets were discovered on 18 January–one on the second floor and another on the fourth floor of the building. One flat belongs to a writer-director, while another is occupied by a model.
Initial attempts to trace the source of the bullets through CCTV footage yielded no conclusive leads. However, forensic analysis later suggested that the shots may have originated from Khan’s bungalow in the vicinity.
A team of around 18 police personnel, supported by crime branch units, participated in the investigation that eventually led to Khan’s detention.
Mumbai Police have seized the firearm used in the incident as part of their inquiry.
