Jorhat has long been considered one of the most politically significant constituencies in Upper Assam. Part of the Jorhat Lok Sabha segment, the seat has a history of closely fought elections and reflects the broader political mood of the state.
This election gained added importance amid an intense contest between the BJP-led NDA and the Congress-led opposition alliance, making it a crucial indicator of shifting political dynamics in Assam.

The BJP currently leads the broader state-level political landscape in Assam as part of the NDA, which is seeking a third consecutive term in the state. High voter participation has remained a consistent feature in Assam elections, with overall turnout in the recent polls reaching 85.38 percent, reflecting strong electoral engagement across constituencies.

Axis My India has projected 88 to 100 seats for the NDA, while the Congress-led opposition is expected to secure between 24 and 36 seats. Another survey by JVC estimates 88 to 101 seats for the NDA and 23 to 33 seats for Congress, with smaller parties and independents likely to win a limited number of seats.
