New Delhi: The Jammu and Kashmir Police have foiled a major terror plot following a series of coordinated raids. Acting on intelligence gathered after the arrest of Dr Adil Ahmad Rather, police recovered approximately 350 kilograms of explosives, two AK-47 rifles and a large quantity of ammunition from Faridabad, Haryana, according to media reports.

Earlier, an AK-47 rifle and ammunition were also seized from a locker linked to Dr Adil in the Kashmir Valley. The latest raids were conducted based on information provided by another detained doctor, whose identity has not yet been disclosed. The investigation began after posters of the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror outfit appeared in Srinagar on 27 October. CCTV footage showed Dr Adil pasting the posters, leading to further inquiry.

On November 6, Dr Adil Ahmad Rather, a resident of Qazigund in south Kashmir, was arrested from a hospital on Ambala Road in Saharanpur for allegedly putting up pro-JeM posters. He had been working as a Senior Resident at GMC Anantnag until October 2024. Following his arrest, police raided the GMC Anantnag premises and recovered an AK-47 rifle from his locker.

Subsequently, another doctor, Dr Muzamil, was also taken into custody for his suspected involvement in the case. During the ongoing investigation, police raided the rented accommodation of Dr Mufazil Shakeel in Faridabad, Haryana, where around 300 kilograms of explosives and an AK-47 rifle were recovered. According to sources, Dr Mufazil Shakeel remains absconding.

Faridabad Police Commissioner Satender Kumar Gupta later said, “For the past few days, a joint operation by Faridabad Police, Haryana Police, and J&K Police has been underway against an anti-terror module. During this operation, an accused named Dr. Muzammil was arrested, and subsequent raids led to the recovery of around 360 kg of inflammable material, likely ammonium nitrate, not RDX. Along with it, 20 timers, batteries, and a Kalashnikov assault rifle with three magazines and 83 live rounds, a pistol with eight live rounds, and other equipment were recovered. The joint operation is still ongoing.”
