Puducherry: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) co-convenor Saurav Das has alleged that Pondicherry Police visited his family’s home and subjected his family members to extensive questioning, describing the incident as an attempt to intimidate him into silence.

In a post on X, Das questioned the purpose and legality of the police visit and asked who had ordered the questioning. He also sought clarification on whether such questioning of his family was part of the legal procedure.

'Two hours ago, the Pondicherry Police showed up at my family’s home and subjected them to all kinds of questioning,' Das said in his post, while tagging the Puducherry Police.

Das alleged that the action was being carried out by the BJP government in Puducherry at the behest of the Union government.

He claimed that the incident was inconsistent with what he described as the character of the Puducherry government.

'If the intention is to intimidate me into silence, it will not work,' Das said, asserting that the alleged action would not weaken his resolve.

The political leader further accused the police of acting in a manner he described as intimidation rather than upholding the law.

He said the incident had instead strengthened his determination to work towards what he called a 'better system', where the police uphold the law.

Das also questioned the authorities over the reason for targeting his family and demanded greater clarity over the circumstances surrounding the police visit.

His allegations, however, have not been independently verified. No response from the Puducherry Police or the Union government to Das's claims was included in his post.

The allegations come amid a political confrontation over what Das described as the use of state machinery to pressure political voices.

Das maintained that any attempt to silence him would instead strengthen his resolve to continue raising questions and opposing what he considers misuse of institutional power.
