In a move that promises to bring comfort, dignity, and convenience to millions of retirees, the India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) has joined hands with the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) to launch free doorstep Digital Life Certificate (DLC) services for pensioners.

No more standing in queues, no more trips to banks or EPFO offices, pensioners can now complete their annual life certificate verification right from home, with the help of postman or Gramin Dak Sevak.

One visit, one click, zero hassle

Under the new service, postmen across India will visit pensioners’ homes equipped with digital authentication devices or visit their nearest post office.

All a pensioner needs to do is:

  • Provide their Aadhaar number and pension details
  • Authenticate using face or fingerprint biometric verification
  • And within minutes, their Digital Life Certificate (Jeevan Pramaan) is generated, no paperwork, no travel, and no waiting.
  • Completely free for EPFO pensioners

The best part? The entire cost is covered by EPFO, making this service 100% free for pensioners under the Employees’ Pension Scheme, 1995. This means even retirees in the most remote villages can access the same seamless digital service as those in cities.

Speaking at the MoU signing on EPFO’s 73rd Foundation Day, IPPB MD & CEO R. Viswesvaran said, “EPFO will bear the cost of issuing Digital Life Certificate entirely, making the service free for their pensioners.”

By tapping into its 1.65 lakh post offices and 3 lakh postal service providers, IPPB is ensuring that technology serves every citizen, bridging the gap between digital governance and rural accessibility.
