IndiGo leaders receive extended deadline till 6 pm on Monday to respond to DGCA notices

New Delhi: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Sunday granted IndiGo Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Pieter Elbers and Accountable Manager Isidro Porqueras more time to respond to the show-cause notices issued over widespread flight disruptions.
A senior official said both executives have been given an extra 24 hours, or until 6 pm on Monday, to file their explanations.
For six days in a row, IndiGo flight operations have been significantly disrupted resulting in massive flight cancellations and delays impacting travel plans of thousands of passengers. Against this backdrop, the regulator had issued the show cause notices.
The DGCA had asked Elbers and Porqueras to submit their replies by Sunday evening when the notices were issued on Saturday.
According to the official, the deadline was extended after both airline executives sought more time.
The two executives on Sunday had sought additional time for a response citing operational constraints due to the scale of its nationwide operations and multiple unavoidable factors that contributed to disruptions across several airports, the official said.
According to the official, DGCA continues to monitor the situation closely.
