New Delhi: The Indian Army has released the Agniveer Recruitment 2026 notification on its official website, joinindianarmy.nic.in, announcing over 25,000 vacancies across multiple categories.

Interested candidates can submit their applications online starting February 13, 2026. The registration window will remain open until April 1, 2026.

The recruitment drive is being conducted nationwide under the Agnipath scheme, through which selected candidates will serve in the Indian Army for a period of four years.

Vacancies and eligibility

  • The notification outlines openings in several categories, including General Duty (GD), Technical, Clerk/Storekeeper Technical, Tradesman, Soldier Pharma, Soldier Technical Nursing Assistant, and Women Military Police.
  • Eligibility criteria vary depending on the post, with educational qualifications ranging from Class 8 pass to Class 12 pass and graduation. Candidates applying for Agniveer posts must be between 17.5 and 21 years of age.
  • As per the physical standards mentioned in the notification, the minimum required height is 170 cm. Candidates must also meet chest measurement criteria of 77 cm (unexpanded), with a minimum expansion of 5 cm.
  • Applicants are required to pay a processing fee of Rs. 250. The payment must be made online via the SBI portal using net banking, debit card, or credit card. The Army has clarified that the fee is non-refundable.

Selection process and exam pattern

The selection process will be conducted in three stages:

  1. Computer-Based Test (CBT)
  2. Recruitment Rally
  3. Document Verification

The online examination, also known as the Common Entrance Exam (CEE), will include subjects such as General Knowledge, General Science, Mathematics, Logical Reasoning, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, and General English, depending on the category applied for.

For General Duty (GD) posts, the exam will consist of 50 questions carrying 100 marks. For Technical and Clerk/Storekeeper posts, the paper will have 50 questions for 200 marks, with subject combinations varying by role.

Candidates who qualify in the CBT will proceed to the recruitment rally stage. This will include physical fitness tests such as a 1.6 km run, pull-ups, a 9-foot ditch, zig-zag balance, followed by physical measurements and a medical examination.

Pay structure under the Agnipath scheme

Selected Agniveers will receive a structured salary package beginning at Rs. 30,000 per month in the first year. The monthly salary will increase annually, reaching Rs. 40,000 by the fourth year.

After a mandatory 30% contribution to the Agniveer Corpus Fund matched equally by the Government of India, the estimated in-hand salary will range from approximately Rs. 21,000 in the first year to Rs. 28,000 in the fourth year.
