The Government of India on Thursday (June 25) announced the restoration of commercial LPG supplies to pre-crisis levels after reviewing temporary restrictions introduced during the recent West Asia crisis.

The decision reverses measures that had been put in place to manage supply concerns arising from developments in the region.

Restrictions on commercial LPG withdrawn

According to the government, restrictions on non-domestic (commercial) packed LPG have been withdrawn with immediate effect. Commercial LPG supplies will now return to the levels that existed before the crisis-related measures were introduced.

The move is expected to ease supply concerns for businesses and commercial establishments that rely on LPG for their operations.

Partial restoration of bulk LPG supplies

The government also said bulk LPG supplies may be restored up to 50 per cent of pre-crisis consumption levels.

Further decisions on bulk supplies are expected to depend on the evolving supply situation and demand patterns.

PNG users advised to continue transition

While announcing the restoration of LPG supplies, the government advised consumers with access to Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connectivity to continue shifting to PNG as a long-term solution.

The advisory reflects the government's continued push for wider adoption of PNG among eligible consumers, even as commercial LPG supplies return to normal levels.
