Ramban: The Salal Dam, located in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir and built on the Chenab River, saw the opening of five of its gates this morning. The visuals are captured as of 6.15 am this morning.
This development has raised alarm in Pakistan, which relies heavily on the Chenab for irrigation and drinking water.
The move comes amid heightened tensions following India’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty in April 2025, a historic agreement that has governed water-sharing between the two nations since 1960.
Post the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 by Pakistan that resulted in the death of inncocent civilians, India and Pakistan has undergone a strained relation with the two countries engaging in active attacks.
