India has issued a strong advisory warning citizens against travelling to Iran and urged those already present to exit the country via designated land border routes amid ongoing regional tensions.
New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has advised Indian citizens to avoid travelling to Iran and has urged those already in the country to leave through designated land border routes.
In an advisory issued on April 23, the government said the warning comes amid reports of limited flight operations resuming between India and Iran.

The MEA stated that Indian nationals should not travel to Iran “whether by air or land” due to continuing regional tensions and operational uncertainties affecting international flights.
The Indian Embassy in Tehran also reiterated the advisory, highlighting that airspace restrictions and security concerns are impacting flight connectivity to and from Iran.
It further advised all Indian citizens currently in Iran to coordinate with the embassy and leave the country through safe and approved border routes.
The government’s warning comes amid heightened geopolitical tensions in the region, which have disrupted travel and raised safety concerns for foreign nationals.
Authorities have asked citizens to strictly follow official guidance and stay in contact with Indian diplomatic missions for updates and assistance.
