New Delhi: Pakistan-based cyber actors have once again failed in their attempts to breach Indian cyber defences. While evidence continues to link Pakistan to the recent Pahalgam terror attack, its forces have also been violating the ceasefire daily along the Line of Control (LoC).

After failing to penetrate mission-critical national networks, Pakistan has now shifted its focus to publicly accessible welfare and educational websites. Operating under the alias "IOK Hacker" (Internet of Khilafah), the group attempted to deface web pages, disrupt services, and steal personal data. However, India's multi-layered cybersecurity systems detected the intrusion attempts in real time and traced them back to Pakistan.

Four websites targeted

Intelligence sources confirmed four related incidents. The websites of Army Public School (APS) Srinagar and APS Ranikhet were targeted with inflammatory content. APS Srinagar also faced a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack.

An attempted breach of the Army Welfare Housing Organisation (AWHO) database was identified, along with efforts to compromise the Indian Air Force Placement Organisation portal. All affected sites were promptly isolated and restored. No sensitive or classified networks were impacted during the attacks.

These repeated failed attempts reveal the adversary's intentions and its limited capabilities. The Indian Army remains committed to protecting its digital assets and continues to upgrade its cybersecurity infrastructure to ensure the safety and security of its personnel and their families.

Ceasefire violations along LoC continue

Meanwhile, the Indian Army responded effectively to unprovoked small arms firing by the Pakistan Army across the LoC during the night of 28-29 April in areas opposite Kupwara, Baramulla, and the Akhnoor sector in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the Indian Army, its troops responded swiftly and strongly to the provocations. This marked the fifth consecutive day of Indian responses following unprovoked small arms fire initiated by Pakistan on the night of 25-26 April.

Earlier, Indian troops had similarly responded to firing incidents along the LoC on the night of 27-28 April in areas opposite Kupwara and Poonch districts.

Tensions remain high along the LoC, with Indian security forces stepping up anti-terror operations in the Kashmir Valley following the Pahalgam terror attack on 22 April, which left 26 people dead.
