New Delhi: The Anti-Terrorist Cell of the Karnataka Police has objected to the plea of Abdul Nasser Madani, chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party and an accused in the Bengaluru blast case, seeking permission to return to Kerala. According to an affidavit filed in the Supreme Court, the ATC stated that Madani is accused in a case that affects the security and integrity of the country.
If the conditions of Madani's bail are relaxed, there is a likelihood that he may abscond, warned Dr. Sumeet, Assistant Commissioner of Karnataka ATC. He argued that six other accused, who are yet to be arrested in the case, may contact Madani, gather information and threaten witnesses.

The Supreme Court had previously inquired about allowing Madani to go to Kerala after the conclusion of the trial in the Bengaluru blast case. The court will consider Madani's request on Thursday.
One person was killed and 20 others sustained injuries when a series of nine low-intensity crude bombs were detonated near the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on July 25, 2008. Following the incident, Madani was taken into custody as he was accused of being the mastermind behind the explosions.
Madani, who is currently out on bail, has approached the court requesting relaxations in his bail conditions to return home and continue his treatment. He is said to be suffering from several health problems due to his prolonged incarceration. His bail was granted due to these health issues.
