New Delhi: The outcome of the state elections unequivocally reveals that the endeavours of Congress and other opposition parties to accuse the Adani Group have boomeranged.

In the lead-up to the state elections, there was a notable surge in political rhetoric accompanied by a barrage of allegations. As part of this trend, various opposition parties, including the Congress, levelled accusations against the Adani Group.

During the election campaign for Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, and Telangana, senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi made references to the Adani Group in major rallies.

Rahul Gandhi employed sensational language in his statements, many of which have since been proven inaccurate or are currently under investigation. Furthermore, some statements were entirely unfounded and lacked any factual basis.

In an intentional effort, Rahul Gandhi sought to depict the Adani Group as opposed to the well-being of India's poor, needy, and the overall economy. These statements were made to foster an atmosphere of uncertainty and target the Adani Group, a contributor to India's growth story. It is crucial to note that recent revelations about the cash-for-question scam further diminish the credibility of these repetitive and recycled allegations.

Rahul Gandhi's key allegations during the campaign rallies included assertions that "Only a Joint Parliamentary Committee-led probe can do complete justice in the ongoing Hindenburg matter," "Loan waivers have been extended to favour the Adani Group to the detriment of India’s larger economic interest, the poor, and farmers," and "The government is looking to hand over coal mines by privatizing them to favour the Adani Group, which goes against the rights of the tribal population."

These statements reflected a deliberate strategy by the Congress to intertwine any issue related to the poor and link it to the Adani Group to gain political advantage and generate negative sentiments against the Central Government, Prime Minister, and the Adani Group. Local issues, such as mines in Chhattisgarh or coal fields in Telangana, were incorporated to provide a contextual backdrop to these allegations.
