IMD forecasts light rain and thunderstorms in parts of Madhya Pradesh while heatwave conditions continue in several districts

Bhopal: The India Meteorological Department centre in Bhopal has forecast isolated rainfall or drizzle accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in select districts of Madhya Pradesh from Sunday evening to Monday. At the same time, heatwave conditions are expected to persist in several other parts of the state.
According to the daily weather summary issued on Sunday by the Meteorological Centre in Bhopal, most regions across Madhya Pradesh experienced dry weather over the past 24 hours.
Heatwave conditions were recorded in districts such as Ratlam, Umaria, Chhindwara and Mandla.
Maximum temperatures showed little variation and remained higher than usual by 2.4 to 2.9 degrees Celsius across districts in the Bhopal, Ujjain, Chambal, Rewa, Jabalpur and Sagar divisions.
In Gwalior and Shahdol divisions, temperatures were significantly above normal, ranging between 3.1 and 4.5 degrees Celsius above average. Other parts of the state recorded temperatures within the normal range.
Minimum temperatures rose noticeably by up to 2.9 degrees Celsius in districts of Ujjain division, while remaining stable elsewhere.
Evening observations on Sunday indicated continued hot and dry conditions throughout Madhya Pradesh. Eastern districts recorded particularly high temperatures, with Nowgaon registering 44.3 degrees Celsius and Mandla recording 43.9 degrees Celsius.
Minimum temperatures ranged from 16.8 degrees Celsius in Pachmarhi to 27 degrees Celsius in Raisen.
No rainfall was reported at any weather station across the state during this period.
Western districts also experience heat
In western parts of the state, temperatures remained high. Ratlam recorded a maximum of 43.8 degrees Celsius, while Bhopal saw temperatures reaching 41.8 degrees Celsius. Several locations reported positive departures from normal temperature levels.
No rainfall activity was recorded anywhere in the state.
Gusty winds were observed in some areas, including Sehore at 41 kmph, Ashoknagar at 31 kmph and Sagar at 31 kmph.
Meteorological observations indicate that upper air cyclonic circulations persist over southwest Rajasthan and east Uttar Pradesh. In addition, a north to south trough extends from east Uttar Pradesh to south Chhattisgarh, influencing weather patterns across the region.
Rainfall and thunderstorm forecast for Monday
The IMD has predicted light rainfall or drizzle accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning at isolated places in districts such as Betul, Harda, Burhanpur, Khandwa, Khargone, Chhindwara and Pandhurna. The remaining districts are expected to stay dry.
Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds of 30 to 40 kmph are also likely in these areas.
Heatwave warning for several districts
Heatwave conditions are expected to continue at isolated places in districts including Alirajpur, Jhabua, Ratlam, Guna, Umaria, Dindori, Mandla, Panna, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh and Niwari.
For Bhopal and nearby areas, the sky is expected to remain partly cloudy, with average wind speeds between 8 and 10 kmph.
The maximum temperature is likely to reach around 41 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is expected to be about 25 degrees Celsius.
No significant change in maximum or minimum temperatures is anticipated over the next five days.
