New Delhi: The Ministry of Minority Affairs has announced the Hajj Policy 2027 and opened the application process for Indian Muslims planning to undertake the pilgrimage next year.

Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said applications can now be submitted online through the Hajj Committee of India portal and the Hajj Suvidha App, making the process simpler and more accessible for pilgrims.

Prospective pilgrims can submit their applications through:

  • Hajj Committee of India portal
  • Hajj Suvidha mobile application

Applicants are advised to complete registration within the prescribed timelines and ensure that all required documents are uploaded correctly.

Hajj 2027 quota details

The government has retained the existing 70:30 quota distribution between the Hajj Committee of India and private tour operators.

  • Hajj Committee of India: 1,22,518 seats
  • Private sector operators: 52,507 seats

The Centre has also indicated that efforts will be made to secure a higher overall quota than last year's allocation of 1,75,025 pilgrims.

What's new in Hajj 2027?

The new policy continues several initiatives introduced during Hajj 2026, including:

  • Short Hajj Package (20 days)
  • Hotel-style accommodation in Makkah
  • High-speed train connectivity between Makkah and Madinah
  • Sofa-cum-bed facilities in Mina
  • Kolkata added as an embarkation point under the Short Hajj Package

The government has also improved on-ground support by revising the State Hajj Inspector ratio from one inspector per 150 pilgrims to one per 135 pilgrims.

AI-powered services

The Ministry is planning AI-based interventions for application verification, flight allocation, grievance redressal and pilgrim support.

A multilingual AI assistant is expected to guide in Hindi, Urdu and several regional languages on applications, payments, travel, accommodation and emergencies.

Medical screening will also be aligned with Saudi guidelines, with stricter health checks aimed at ensuring pilgrim safety.

Rijiju said the government's focus remains on making the pilgrimage safer, more comfortable, transparent and pilgrim-centric for all Indian Hajj pilgrims.
