Outraged parents and community members vandalized the school and protested, alleging negligence.

Ahmedabad: In a tragic incident at Seventh Day School in Ahmedabad’s Khokhra area, a Class 10 student lost his life following a knife attack allegedly carried out by a Class 8 student. What started as a minor scuffle between the two students escalated into fatal violence.
According to police reports, the victim was attacked by the Class 8 student along with seven to eight others on Tuesday afternoon. Despite being rushed to the hospital, the Class 10 student succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The clash reportedly originated from a minor dispute that took place a few days earlier.
The incident triggered widespread outrage among parents and community members. Relatives and members of the Sindhi community stormed the school premises, assaulting the principal and staff, and vandalising classrooms and school property. Protesters accused the school of negligence and refused to accept the student’s body until justice is served. Several parents also staged a road blockade demanding immediate action.
School administrator Mayurika Patel defended the institution, stating that the accused child had a history of complaints and that prior actions had been taken. She added that the incident did not occur inside the school but outside the premises, and that the knife used in the attack was kept in a car, not brought into the school. She assured strict action would be taken, including issuing a leaving certificate (LC) against the student involved.
Police promptly responded to the incident, identified the attackers, and initiated legal proceedings. The accused have been booked under appropriate sections of the Juvenile Justice Act, and CCTV footage is being reviewed as part of the investigation. A murder case has been registered against the accused.
District Education Officer Rohit Chaudhary confirmed that the school failed to notify authorities promptly and has been issued a notice to explain its actions. The school has declared a holiday to pay respects to the deceased student.
