Ahmedabad: Gujarat ATS on Sunday arrested three suspects from Ahmedabad while they were allegedly supplying weapons and conspiring to plan terror attacks across the country.

According to officials, the trio Dr Ahmed Mohiuddin Syed, Mohd Suhel, and Azad had been under ATS surveillance for the past year. “Three suspects have been arrested by the Gujarat ATS. They had been on the radar for the past year and were nabbed while supplying weapons. They were planning attacks in various parts of the country,” the agency said in a statement. Further details are awaited.

Earlier this year, Gujarat ATS had arrested five members of Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS), including a woman from Bengaluru accused of running an online terror module with Pakistani links.

The ATS had detained 30-year-old Sama Parveen from Bengaluru for alleged involvement with Al Qaeda, following the earlier arrest of three others connected to the case.

On July 23, the agency apprehended four AQIS-linked operatives identified as Mohd Faiq (Delhi), Mohd Fardeen (Ahmedabad), Sefullah Kureshi (Modasa, Aravalli), and Zeeshan Ali (Noida, Uttar Pradesh).

Gujarat ATS DIG Sunil Joshi confirmed that all suspects were under surveillance for their suspected ties to AQIS and said the arrests followed coordinated action based on specific intelligence inputs.
