Hyderabad/Bengaluru: Google is reportedly preparing for another round of layoffs, with employees in its advertising, sales, and marketing teams in India expected to be among those affected. According to a report by Business Standard, the company's Hyderabad and Bengaluru offices may face restructuring as part of a broader global workforce reduction.

While Google has not disclosed the exact number of job cuts, sources say that the layoffs will primarily impact teams working in non-technical roles. The move comes shortly after the tech giant cut hundreds of jobs last week in its Platforms and Devices division, which includes teams behind Android, Pixel smartphones, and the Chrome browser.

The layoffs are part of Google’s ongoing restructuring strategy aimed at cutting costs and streamlining operations. Earlier this year, Google merged its Platforms and Devices teams and offered a voluntary exit program to employees. The recent layoffs are reportedly in addition to those voluntary exits.

A Google spokesperson, speaking to The Information, confirmed the job cuts. “Since combining the Platforms and Devices teams last year, we’ve focused on becoming more nimble and operating more effectively, and this included making some job reductions,” the spokesperson said.

As the company moves forward with its global restructuring, Google employees in India, especially those in sales, marketing, and advertising, may face uncertainty in the coming weeks.
