Ghaziabad: A massive fire swept through the Gaur Green Avenue residential complex in Indirapuram’s Abhay Khand on Wednesday morning, forcing panicked evacuations as the blaze climbed multiple stories of the high-rise building.

Emergency services dispatched several fire tenders to the scene immediately following the initial report. Firefighters continued their efforts into the late morning to subdue the flames, which originated in the densely populated housing society. While the precise origin of the fire remains under official investigation, no loss of life has been confirmed at this stage.

Witnesses reported a rapid vertical spread of the inferno. Meera, a resident who observed the crisis unfold, noted that the blaze began around 8:30 a.m. and progressively moved upward through the structure.

"The fire has spread from 9th to 13th floor. The fire broke out at about 8.30 am and it is yet to be extinguished. It has reached the top floor," she said. "There was some paint work being done on the 9th floor. Some short circuit happened, and there was explosion in the AC. I don't know if anyone has been injured."

The physical toll on the building appears significant. Rohit, another resident of the society, indicated that the fire had moved horizontally as well as vertically, impacting numerous households. “Around 10-12 flats are gutted in the fire. Maybe there was some light (electricity) issue. I do not have full information,” he said.

Emergency personnel remain on-site to conduct cooling operations and to ensure all residents are accounted for.
