French President Emmanuel Macron and first lady Brigitte Macron paid a quiet, late-night visit to Mumbai’s iconic Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), drawing attention after visuals of the moment began circulating widely online.
Clips shared across social platforms show the French leader walking through the historic railway station complex amid a heavy security presence. Accompanied by officials, Macron appeared at ease as he took in the architectural grandeur of the landmark, which stands as one of Mumbai’s most recognised heritage structures.
The illuminated façade and interiors of the Victorian-era building provided a striking setting as the President moved through different sections of the station. Security teams maintained a tight cordon while railway authorities and senior officials guided him during the brief walkthrough.
The visit came at the end of a packed day of diplomatic meetings and public engagements in Mumbai, forming a cultural interlude during his otherwise policy-driven India tour.
Earlier in the day, Macron surprised Mumbaikars by joining locals for a morning jog along Marine Drive.
