Bengaluru: Food safety officials in Karnataka executed a series of inspections across multiple restaurants in Bengaluru, resulting in the confiscation and disposal of spoiled food products and the closure of one establishment.

According to figures released by the Food Safety Department, authorities seized or discarded a total of 132 kilograms of unfit food items alongside 15 litres of used cooking oil during the operations.

At Hotel Sky, situated in UB City, inspectors uncovered 45 kilograms of spoiled chicken and beef, six kilograms of vegetable cutlets, and 15 litres of used cooking oil. The 51 kilograms of food products were determined to be unfit for human consumption and were subsequently destroyed following standard procedure.

Enforcement officers also raided the Royal Chain Hotel, seizing 50 kilograms of duck and five kilograms of fish.

At Madras Kitchen, officials confiscated five kilograms of green peas, while five kilograms of mushrooms were seized at Tescon Hotel.

Inspections at Senchez Hotel resulted in the seizure of three kilograms of fish, while seven kilograms of cake, potatoes, and tacos were destroyed.

Following the raids, authorities ordered the closure of Skyee Lounge, located on the 16th floor of UB City in Bangalore, citing unhygienic conditions throughout its kitchen facility. Inspectors reported finding fungus-ridden meat and beef, as well as milk and curd supplies that had passed their expiration dates by 10 days.
