The Election Commission on Thursday announced a revised timeline for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in six states and Union territories, following requests from their chief electoral officers.

The updated schedule applies to Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and Uttar Pradesh, all of which were earlier expected to wrap up enumeration on Thursday, with draft rolls due on December 16.

Under the new plan, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat have been granted additional time until December 14, and their draft rolls will now be published on December 19.

For Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, the enumeration window has been extended until December 18, shifting their draft roll release to December 23.

Uttar Pradesh has received the longest extension, with enumeration now continuing until December 26, and draft rolls set for publication on December 31.

The EC clarified that Goa, Puducherry, Lakshadweep, Rajasthan, and West Bengal will adhere to their original timeline, concluding enumeration on Thursday and releasing draft rolls on December 16.

Kerala, which underwent a prior revision, will complete its enumeration on December 18, followed by draft publication on December 23.

To ensure maximum voter enrollment ahead of the final roll release in February, the EC urged eligible citizens to file Form 6 with their block-level officers or through the ECI-Net app or website.
