To use this convenient service, individuals must have a mobile number registered with Aadhaar and an active DigiLocker account linked to their Aadhaar.

Aadhaar, one of the most important documents for Indian citizens, has become significantly easier to access thanks to a new integration with WhatsApp. The Government of India has enabled citizens to download their Aadhaar cards securely through the official MyGov Helpdesk chatbot on WhatsApp, simplifying the process and removing the need to use multiple platforms such as the UIDAI portal or DigiLocker.
To use this convenient service, individuals must have a mobile number registered with Aadhaar and an active DigiLocker account linked to their Aadhaar. The MyGov Helpdesk WhatsApp number (+91-9013151515) should be saved in the user’s contacts.
The process to download Aadhaar via WhatsApp is straightforward:
- Open WhatsApp and start a chat with the MyGov Helpdesk by sending a greeting like “Hi” or “Namaste.”
- From the options provided by the chatbot, select DigiLocker services.
- Confirm your DigiLocker account and enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number.
- An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number; enter this for authentication.
- Once verified, the chatbot will present a list of documents available for download.
- Choose Aadhaar, and the card will be sent in PDF format directly within WhatsApp.
This feature offers a faster, more secure way for millions of Indians to access their Aadhaar and other linked documents, particularly benefiting those who use WhatsApp regularly. It ensures official documents are easily available without the hassle of navigating different websites or apps.
Please note that only one document can be downloaded at a time, and the Aadhaar must already be linked to your DigiLocker account. If it is not linked, users will need to update their details via the DigiLocker website or app before using the WhatsApp service.
