Thane: Following the Central Bureau of Investigation's (CBI) submission of a closure report on Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death, the advocate representing Disha Salian's father has asserted that the report holds no legal value. Advocate Nilesh C Ojha stated that the court can still take cognisance of the case and order further investigation.
Speaking to ANI, Ojha criticised the narrative surrounding the closure report, saying, "No clean chit has been given. People are running a false narrative... This closure report has no such value before law. After the closure report, the court can still take cognisance of the murder case, issue an arrest warrant, or order for further investigation. Just like it happened in the case of Aarushi Talwar."
Disha Salian, a talent manager, was found dead on 8 June 2020, just days before Sushant Singh Rajput was discovered hanging in his Bandra flat on 14 June 2020. Her father has demanded a fresh investigation into her death and called for the interrogation of UBT-Shiv Sena’s Aditya Thackeray.
On Saturday, sources confirmed that the CBI filed the closure report in a Mumbai court nearly five years after Sushant Singh Rajput's death. Sushant’s postmortem, conducted at Mumbai's Cooper Hospital, cited asphyxia as the cause of death.
The Bombay High Court has scheduled a hearing for Disha Salian’s case on 2 April.
Aditya Thackeray has previously defended himself against allegations linking him to Disha Salian's death. Thackeray accused critics of attempting to tarnish his reputation over the past five years and stated, "A lot of people have tried to defame me for the last five years. If the matter is in court, then we will speak in court."
