Hosting a festival or event in Delhi? The new ‘Tatkal’ service offers temporary power connections within 24 hours, subject to formalities.

New Delhi: Hosting a Durga Puja, Ramlila, Diwali mela or another event in Delhi and worried about arranging temporary electricity? Power discoms in the national capital have introduced a ‘Tatkal’ service that can provide temporary power connections within 24 hours, subject to the required formalities and technical feasibility.
The service is aimed at organisers who need temporary electricity for festival celebrations, public events and weddings during the festive season.
The facility is being offered by BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL), BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL) and Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL).
How to get a Tatkal temporary power connection
Applicants can request a temporary connection through the respective discoms’ online platforms. BSES customers can apply through the company website and mobile apps, while applications and payments can also be made through its other customer service channels.
BSES has also made the service available through WhatsApp, customer care centres and Digi Seva Kendra call centres.
Organisers can additionally apply through the Delhi government’s single-window system at the district magistrate’s office.
The temporary connection can be processed within 24 hours once the prescribed requirements are completed and the location is found technically suitable for the connection.
TPDDL also offers Tatkal connections
TPDDL has made similar arrangements for organisers of Ramlilas, Durga Puja celebrations and other festivals, offering temporary electricity connections within 24 hours.
Those seeking a connection from TPDDL can visit the nearest customer care centre or apply through the company’s website. The payment for the temporary connection can also be completed online.
With festival-related events requiring temporary electricity supply, the Tatkal facility gives organisers an additional route to arrange power without waiting through a longer standard process.
