A massive explosion near Gate Number 1 of Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station on Monday evening triggered panic, injuring several people and setting multiple vehicles ablaze, as authorities placed the capital on high alert.

Delhi: A powerful explosion was reported near Gate Number 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station in Delhi, a busy area close to several temples and a gurudwara, late on Monday. The Delhi Fire Department confirmed that the blast originated from a car, leading to a massive fire that spread to three to four nearby vehicles.
According to officials, ten fire tenders are currently on the scene attempting to control the flames, while the Delhi Police Special Cell is investigating the nature and cause of the explosion. The entire Delhi region has been placed on high alert as a precautionary measure.

Early reports indicate that several individuals sustained serious injuries and have been rushed to nearby hospitals. However, officials have yet to confirm the number of casualties.
An eyewitness at the scene said, “Near the Lal Mandir and the Aguri Sankar Mandir Gurudwara area, there were many people. As soon as the explosion happened, bodies flew here. We called the police as soon as we could, and the ambulance and fire department arrived. We are scared, especially considering the recent Faridabad incident.”
Another witness described the terrifying moment: “The explosion was so powerful that our hearts just stopped from the impact. When we came out, there was fire everywhere. They said it was a car explosion, and all the nearby cars were burning. I saw body parts scattered — it was terrifying beyond explanation. This is the main area of our city, our country — it’s horrifying.”
A man at the site told reporters, “There was a very loud blast, and bodies are scattered everywhere. We don’t know what’s happening — there were four or five cars on fire.”
Police and fire personnel have cordoned off the area, and forensic teams are collecting samples to determine whether the details of the incident.
