New Delhi: The Delhi government is planning to deliver several of its services in a faceless manner, allowing residents to apply for and receive documents such as birth and caste certificates through WhatsApp, officials said on Thursday.

Nearly 50 services across different departments have been identified for inclusion in the initiative, they added.

Under the ‘Governance through WhatsApp’ project, services currently available online will be accessible via a bilingual AI chatbot in Hindi and English. Users will be able to apply for certificates, upload required documents, and pay fees directly through WhatsApp.

A senior government official said the initiative is being developed by the Information Technology Department, which previously managed doorstep delivery of government services in Delhi.

To facilitate the WhatsApp-based services, a dashboard will be created for real-time monitoring and management of departmental interactions with applicants.

The project will be implemented by a technology company engaged by the government to design and deploy the system, the official added.
