Wani, arrested for providing technical assistance, including drone modification and rocket development for the Red Fort car bomb, faces NIA custody.

New Delhi: A Special NIA Court in Delhi on Saturday allowed Jasir Bilal Wani, aide of Delhi blast bomber Dr Umar Muhammad, to meet his lawyers for one hour every two days while remaining in the custody of the anti-terror probe agency. The Patiala House Court specified that Wani would be allowed 20-minute meetings with his lawyers between 5 and 6 p.m.
Wani, arrested on November 17 in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, is described by the NIA as an active co-conspirator of Dr Umar. He allegedly provided technical assistance for terror attacks, including modifying drones and attempting to develop rockets tied to the deadly car bomb blast near Delhi's Red Fort on November 10, which claimed 13 lives. Wani is a resident of Qazigund in the Anantnag district and closely collaborated with Dr Umar Muhammad Nabi to plan and execute the attack.
The NIA continues to investigate the bombing, pursuing multiple leads and conducting searches across several states to uncover the full conspiracy. Police have confirmed a Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) link to the blast, with a JeM operative reportedly instructing the accused on bomb-making.
Authorities also revealed that the accused were preparing around 200 bombs intended to detonate simultaneously in Delhi and other parts of North India. The plan to carry out coordinated bomb blasts across northern states reportedly involved the ISI handpicking a JeM operative to train the accused, who were part of the Faridabad module.
