Delhi’s IGI Airport is introducing an E-Arrival Card facility, allowing foreign travellers to complete immigration online before arrival.

Some good news for international travellers arriving at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI). From now onwards, foreign travellers arriving at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) will soon be able to complete immigration formalities faster, thanks to a new E-Arrival Card system being launched by Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), led by GMR Aero. The facility will go live on October 1, 2025, under the guidance of the Bureau of Immigration.
The new system allows international passengers to submit their arrival information online before reaching the airport, eliminating the need for paper-based arrival cards. Travellers can fill in their details up to three days prior to arrival via official government portals and apps, including the Bureau of Immigration website (boi.gov.in), the Indian Visa portal (www.indianvisaonline.gov.in), the Su-Swagatam mobile app, and the Delhi airport website (newdelhiairport.in).
The move is expected to cut queues, speed up immigration clearance, and reduce paper usage, supporting the airport’s sustainability initiatives. Airports in countries like Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and South Korea already offer similar digital arrival systems.
For Indian nationals and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), faster immigration options are already available under the Fast Track Immigration-Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP), launched at Delhi airport in June 2024. Together, the FTI-TTP and the new E-Arrival Card facility demonstrate the government’s focus on making travel more convenient and efficient for all passengers.
Speaking about the initiative, Videh Kumar Jaipuriar, CEO of DIAL, said the E-Arrival Card reflects the government’s commitment to a world-class, hassle-free travel experience. He added that “digitising the arrival card process will allow faster clearance, shorter waiting times, and greater convenience, enhancing the overall passenger experience.”
With the new E-Arrival Card facility, IGI aims to become more efficient, modern, and environmentally friendly, while providing international travellers with a seamless arrival experience.
