New Delhi: As many as 15,000 delegates will participate in the 85th Congress plenary session scheduled from February 24 to 26 at Raipur in Chhattisgarh. The selected 1338 AICC members will have the voting rights during the session. Though the demand to grant voting rights for the nominated 487 AICC members was raised in the party, no decision has been made regarding this.
Besides them, 9915 Pradesh Congress Committee members (PCC), 3000 nominated PCC members and leaders from Chhattisgarh will attend the session. National general secretary KC Venugopal said that the DCC presidents, participants of Bharat Jodo Yatra and representatives of other parties affiliated to Congress will be the special invitees of the session.
The plenary session titled ‘Hath Se Hath Jodo’ will commence with the steering committee meeting at Veer Narayan Singh Nagar on February 24 at 10 am. The draft formulated by the policy development committee will be considered to resolve a final decision on it. The resolutions will be approved by 4 pm on the same day.
The steering committee will convene a meeting again on February 25 at 9.30 am for deciding the agenda of the plenary session. The plenary session with the participation of all delegates will be held on February 26. The closing rally of the plenary session will begin from the venue named after late Motilal Vora.
KC Venugopal asserted that the plenary session will be a milestone for the next Lok Sabha election for the party.
The steering committee convening on February 24 will decide whether an election is required to select the Congress Working Committee members, said the Congress leaders.
