Kaithal (Haryana): Aditya Surjewala, the Congress candidate from Kaithal, claimed on Tuesday that the BJP will not secure more than 15 seats in the elections. He believes Congress is leading in the state based on exit polls and early counting results.

"We will win around 60 seats and BJP will come down to 15 seats, no other party will win any other seats. We have kept 7 promises and it has touched the hearts of people. Because of BJP, inflation has risen so much that it has become so difficult to run a household..." he said. "...Exit polls say that we will win 60 seats (of the total 90 seats), but I say that we will win 70 seats, we will Kaithal seat too." he added.

Surjewala expressed that there is a strong desire for change among the people after a decade of BJP rule, which he described as corrupt and divisive. "...Everyone had one feeling in their hearts - Change. They are tired of the last 10 years of BJP, of this corrupt government, of this hateful government. They wanted change. I know that Congress will bring that change, that justice. Exit polls say that we will win 60 seats (of the total 90 seats), but I say that we will win 70 seats, we will Kaithal seat too." he said.

He accused the BJP government of operating like a "40% commission government," alleging that it fosters a climate of fear through extortion calls. "...Just like they did in Karnataka, this BJP Government ran a '40% commission government'. If anyone had to do any work, they had to offer a 40-50% bribe. Despite that bribe, sometimes their work was not done. There is rampant 'gunda raj' and people get extortion calls..."

Before the vote counting, Surjewala also visited the Dera Mata temple to offer prayers.
