Kochi: The value of the country’s coffee exports has crossed ₹17,000 crore. According to Coffee Board data, India exported coffee worth ₹17,106 crore so far in the 2025 calendar year (up to December 16). Compared with ₹13,624 crore during the same period last year, this represents an increase of more than 25 per cent in export value.

Adverse weather conditions in major coffee-producing countries such as Brazil and Vietnam disrupted supply chains, pushing up coffee prices in the global market. This was the key reason for the sharp rise in the value of India’s coffee exports. However, during this period, the volume of coffee exported from India declined. This was because some countries in Europe, a key market, turned to lower-priced coffee from other origins instead of Indian coffee. Coffee export volumes up to December 16, 2025 fell by 6 per cent to 3.66 lakh tonnes, compared with 3.91 lakh tonnes in the same period last year.

Kerala expects 85,150 tonnes

Kerala, which ranks second in coffee production in the country, is expected to produce 85,150 tonnes of coffee in the 2025–26 financial year (estimate after flowering), according to the Coffee Board. Of this, 88,000 tonnes is Robusta. Karnataka, which ranks first in coffee production, is expected to produce 2.80 lakh tonnes of coffee.

India, the world’s seventh-largest coffee producer, ranks fifth in coffee exports. Italy accounts for the largest share of Indian coffee exports (18 per cent), followed by Germany, Belgium, Russia and the UAE.
