Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and TVK leader C. Joseph Vijay is set to mark his first birthday in office with constituency-focused programmes, including the inauguration of his MLA office in Perambur.

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay will celebrate his 52nd birthday on June 22, marking his first such occasion after assuming office. As part of the planned activities, Vijay is expected to inaugurate his MLA office in Vyasarpadi, located within the Perambur Assembly constituency. The office has been set up to strengthen direct communication between the legislator and local residents.
According to sources, the facility is designed to help address public grievances more efficiently and ensure easier access for constituents seeking assistance.
Vijay contested and won from both Perambur and Tiruchi East constituencies in the Assembly elections. Following his victory, he vacated the Tiruchi East seat and retained Perambur as his constituency.
This makes Perambur the central focus of his constituency-related activities and outreach programmes.
Public interaction and birthday engagement
On his birthday, Vijay is also expected to interact with local residents and take part in simple celebrations, including cutting a birthday cake with constituents. Party sources say the emphasis will be on connecting with people rather than conducting large-scale political events.
In a significant step towards grassroots engagement, Vijay is reportedly planning a monthly public interaction programme in Perambur. Under this initiative, one day each month will be reserved exclusively for meeting constituents and receiving petitions directly.
Officials indicate that he intends to personally review grievances and ensure follow-up action on deserving cases, aiming for faster resolution of public issues.
MLA office as outreach hub
The newly inaugurated MLA office is also being developed as more than a routine administrative space. Reports suggest it will function as a public outreach hub equipped with facilities to support constituency work.
It is also expected to include accommodation arrangements, allowing the Chief Minister to stay there during constituency visits and review meetings when required.
Party functionaries view these initiatives as part of Vijay’s broader effort to maintain direct contact with voters while managing responsibilities as Chief Minister. The planned activities highlight an emphasis on accessibility, public engagement and responsive governance at the constituency level.
With his first birthday in office approaching, the planned inauguration and outreach programmes are expected to underline a shift towards constituency-focused governance, positioning public interaction as a central theme of his political approach.
