CJP founder Abhijit Dipke begins an indefinite hunger strike after Sonam Wangchuk is hospitalised as the NEET protest at Jantar Mantar intensifies.

Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijit Dipke on Saturday launched an indefinite hunger strike after activist Sonam Wangchuk was shifted from Delhi's Jantar Mantar protest site to Safdarjung Hospital following a deterioration in his health.
In a post on X, Dipke said he was beginning his fast immediately. His announcement came hours after Delhi Police moved Wangchuk to the hospital, citing medical advice and directions from the Delhi High Court. Wangchuk had been on an indefinite hunger strike for 21 days.
Earlier in the day, Dipke alleged on X that Delhi Police had ‘cracked down’ on protesters at Jantar Mantar, accusing personnel of assaulting demonstrators and forcibly taking Wangchuk away.
In separate posts, he claimed he had been ‘beaten up and put under detention’ by Delhi Police.
He also reshared claims by another social media user alleging that students were subjected to a lathi charge while Wangchuk was being taken from the protest site. These claims could not be independently verified.
Police, however, maintained that Wangchuk was shifted to Safdarjung Hospital only to ensure he received essential medical care, following medical advice and the Delhi High Court's directions.
The police also appealed to protesters to vacate the protest site peacefully.
Wangchuk had been on an indefinite hunger strike since June 28 in support of the CJP-led agitation over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination and the reported deaths of students linked to the controversy.
The protest continued despite Wangchuk's hospitalisation, with AISA activists Neha, Aameen and Manish also remaining on an indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar.
