BSNL unveils ₹196 Yatra SIM offering 4G data, voice calls, and full coverage for pilgrims

In a move to ensure uninterrupted mobile connectivity during the Amarnath Yatra, telecom provider Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has introduced a new SIM card exclusively for pilgrims. Priced at ₹196, the ‘Yatra SIM’ offers unlimited 4G data and voice calling for 15 days.
BSNL has assured robust network coverage along the challenging routes of Jammu and Kashmir, helping yatris stay connected even in remote stretches of the pilgrimage trail.
The new SIM card is designed to function as a digital lifeline throughout the holy journey. From checking maps to making emergency calls or staying informed, the Yatra SIM aims to make travel safer and more convenient across areas where mobile networks are typically unreliable.
What does the ₹196 BSNL Yatra SIM plan include?
For ₹196, pilgrims receive unlimited 4G internet and voice calls, valid for 15 days. The SIM can be activated instantly after completing the Know Your Customer (KYC) process.
Where can pilgrims buy the SIM?
The BSNL Yatra SIM is available at key registration and check-in points such as Lakhanpur, Pahalgam, Baltal, Chandrakot, and Bhagwati Nagar. These locations are commonly used by pilgrims en route to the Amarnath cave.
To activate the SIM, users must provide valid identification—such as an Aadhaar card or any government-issued photo ID—along with an official Shri Amarnath Yatra permit or slip. Once KYC is completed, the SIM is enabled on the spot.
BSNL is the only mobile network available during the yatra
Due to security protocols in Jammu and Kashmir, prepaid SIMs from other states do not function along the pilgrimage route. BSNL remains the only network provider that ensures full coverage through the Yatra path. Only BSNL postpaid connections and the newly launched Yatra SIMs will have access to mobile signals during the journey.
