Security protocols at Visakhapatnam Airport were beefed up as a bomb threat targeted multiple IndiGo Airlines flights to Visakhapatnam, including flight 6E917 from Chennai. The alert was communicated by the IndiGo Airlines station manager on Tuesday, following a tweet from an account identified as AdamLanza202.

IndiGo flight 6E917, which was scheduled to depart from Chennai at 3:55 pm, was set to land at Visakhapatnam at 5:10 pm when the threat was received.

The tweet reportedly contained specific references to several IndiGo flights, prompting immediate action. In response to the threat, all affected flights were swiftly relocated to an isolation bay to ensure the safety of passengers and crew.

Airlines hit by hoaxes:

Earlier on Monday, IndiGo Airlines, Air India, and Vistara received threats from an X user identifying himself as “I want to slit your throat” (@Mandaimassacre), who sent messages. The message read, “Hi, there are bombs onboard the mentioned planes. Many lives will be lost today,” and contained specific flight numbers.

A thorough verification revealed that these threats were hoaxes, according to an official from the Sahar police station.

Mumbai police registered a case against this unidentified person on Tuesday. With this incident, the city police have registered 14 FIRs this month in connection with bomb threats to airlines between October 14 and 28. The police have solved one of the 14 cases, resulting in the arrest of a 17-year-old student from Chhattisgarh.
