A bomb threat was reported on Friday at the residence of Tamil actor Vijay and at the Pathanamthitta and Kollam district collectorates.

In Kerala, bomb threats were received at the Pathanamthitta and Kollam collectorates around noon through email. Following the alerts, all staff members were evacuated as a precautionary measure.

Bomb squads were deployed at both locations and conducted thorough inspections. However, no suspicious objects were found during the searches.

Dog squads were also pressed into service at the collectorates. As the threat came just ahead of the Christmas holidays, attendance at both offices was reportedly low.

Despite this, security agencies followed standard protocol, evacuating the premises fully and carrying out detailed checks.

Threat message mentions RDX IEDs

Media reports said the email described the threat as follows: “2 RDX IEDs planted in Collector Office/Actor Vijay House in Chennai. Evacuate both places by 3 PM!”

The same threat message linked the collectorates in Kerala with actor Vijay’s residence in Chennai.
