Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Thursday announced a Diwali ex gratia payment of ₹31,000 for its officers and employees.

According to a BMC release, the benefit will extend to all eligible officers, staff, and teachers — both teaching and non-teaching — from aided private primary and secondary schools, including teaching assistants and education service workers. Employees of teacher training institutes, whether aided or unaided, as well as shikshan sevaks, will also receive the ex gratia amount.

Additionally, community health volunteers (CHVs) will be granted a Bhai Dooj gift of ₹14,000, while kindergarten teachers and helpers will get ₹5,000 each.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, along with Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, extended Diwali greetings to all BMC employees and officers on the occasion.
