Patna: The counting of votes across all 243 Bihar assembly constituencies began on Friday, 14 November 2025, with over 4,372 counting tables, 243 Returning Officers, and around 18,000 counting agents in place. As the trends emerge, several opposition leaders have raised concerns about electoral irregularities.
The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar secured a decisive victory in the state assembly elections on Friday, winning a commanding three-fourths majority in the 243-member House. According to the latest results available on the Election Commission's website, the NDA has so far clinched 183 seats.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the largest party within the alliance, securing 83 seats and leading in six other constituencies. Its ally, the Janata Dal (United) led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, won 75 seats and was ahead in 10 more. The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), headed by Union minister Chirag Paswan, secured 17 seats, with leads in two additional constituencies.
Other NDA allies also fared well, with Jitan Ram Manjhi's Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) winning five seats and Upendra Kushwaha's Rashtriya Lok Morcha securing three seats, with one more seat still too close to call.
Prominent NDA winners include Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, as well as state ministers Prem Kumar, Maheshwar Hazari, and Sanjay Saraogi. BJP's Maithili Thakur also emerged victorious.
On the other hand, the opposition INDIA alliance struggled to make a significant impact, securing only 32 seats so far. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), led by Tejashwi Yadav, bagged 23 seats and was ahead in two more, while the Congress managed six seats. The CPI(ML) Liberation secured two seats, and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) won one seat. The All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM), led by Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, secured five seats.
In terms of seat distribution, the BJP and JD(U) contested an equal number of constituencies—101 each—while their ally, LJP (RV), contested in 28 seats. The opposition INDIA bloc, comprising the RJD, Congress, and CPI(ML) Liberation, fought in 141, 61, and 20 constituencies, respectively.
Bihar witnessed a record turnout of 67.13 per cent, indicating stronger public engagement with the 2025 election. The final results were expected later in the evening as counting continued across the state.
