Bengaluru: Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Executive Chairperson of Biocon Limited, has once again voiced urgent concerns about Bengaluru’s failing infrastructure, calling on the Karnataka government and civic bodies to take immediate action. In a tweet on Wednesday, Shaw highlighted that Bengaluru, despite its world-class talent and favourable climate, suffers from poor infrastructure marked by garbage buildup, debris, and deteriorating roads.

“Namma Bengaluru has the best talent and the best weather but the worst infrastructure,” Shaw tweeted, tagging the Bengaluru Development Minister DK Shivakumar and the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). “If we fix garbage debris and roads, we can be among the best cities in the world. GBA has a great opportunity to do this. Let’s use collective will to do this.”

Her call to action has resonated with Bengaluru residents and social media users, many of whom echoed her frustration over inadequate civic management in the city. Several pointed out that Bengaluru’s stature as India’s leading tech hub is being undermined by chronic problems like overflowing garbage dumps, pothole-riddled roads, and frequent waterlogging.

Earlier this year, Shaw had drawn comparisons with the well-maintained streets of San Cristobal Island in Ecuador, urging Bengaluru to take shame in its slumping urban maintenance.
